You were my shelter.
You promised to care for me
When I grounded you
By my side.
I expected you to shield me from the
Things that I
Could not shield myself from.
I thought I could rest comfortably as long as
I had you close.
I never would have dreamed that a force could take you
From me like a mere wind.
Without warning you were taken from me
I thought I could get you back – Each time I did
I placed you deeper and deeper
To stay by me, but over and over you
Would leap up and leave. . .
As though there were something better.
And I was left alone to fend for myself.
